The buttons on a Leakage Protection Plug (GFCI Plug) are designed to ensure safety by cutting off power in case of a ground fault (leakage current). Here’s how to use them properly:
1. Reset Button (RESET)
Purpose: Restores power after a leakage trip or manual test.
How to Use: If the plug cuts off power due to a leakage fault, first unplug the faulty device or fix the issue. Then firmly press the RESET button until you hear a click (some models may have an indicator light turning on), which means the supply electricity has recovered.
If RESET fails: The leakage issue may still exist—check connected devices. The plug itself might be damaged and need replacement.
2. Test Button (TEST)
Purpose: Simulates a leakage fault to check if the protection works.
How to Use: Confirm machine power is on, press TEST then plug should immediately cut off power (trip), which indicates the plug is good. Press RESET to restore power after testing. It’s recommended to test monthly to ensure safety.
Important Notes:
If TEST does not trip, the GFCI protection is faulty—replace the plug immediately.
If RESET won’t stay in, there may still be a dangerous leakage—unplug all devices and retry.
