Answer

Address Verification Service (AVS) is a fraud-prevention service that verifies whether the billing address provided in a transaction matches the billing address on file with the card-issuing bank.

AVS can be enabled at different verification levels, such as matching the numeric portion of the street address, the ZIP/postal code, or requiring both to match before a transaction is approved.

Example Chart below for reference on possible scenarios with verification enabled for both street address and zip code match:

REASON: Street address numbers and zip code was entered correctly.

Credit card form displaying fields for name, number, expiration, CVV, and address.

Refill will fail.  

REASON: Zip code was entered correctly, but the street address numbers contain a typo.

AVS Enabled with Payroc: YES

AVS Enabled at location Level on Washboard: NO

Credit card form displaying name, number, expiration date, CVV, and captcha code.

Refill will fail.

REASON: Resident entered their credit card information correctly, but the mobile app did not prompt for the AVS information (street address and zip code).
Since the payment processor is expecting AVS and it was not provided, transaction will fail.

Credit card information form including name, number, expiration date, and address fields.

Refill should complete successfully. 

REASON: Street address numbers & Zip code was entered correctly.
The abbreviated street name of "S" instead of "South" will not stop the refill.
