Document Overview
This document introduces the installation steps of the Kiosoft Edge Box and router into Kiosoft VC Touch 17 and VC Touch 21.
Replace the power cable (with the adapter)
Replace the current power supply with the new power supply.
Current Power Supply | New Power Supply |
---|---|
Wiring
Connect the Ethernet cable to LAN1 port and power cable to the DC-12V port.
UPS (optional)
To prevent data loss and service interruption, an UPS may be used as a backup solution.
Plug the UPS to the master plug, and then plug the box, router, and other devices to the UPS.
Master plug extension
When the plugs on the master plug are not enough, an extra socket is required for the box’s power cord. The solution is adding a power cord splitter.
Disconnect one socket from the master plug. Select an appropriate power cord splitter and connect it to the master plug. Reconnect the disconnected socket and the box's power plug to the sockets of the splitter. Use mounting tape to ensure the stability of the splitter.
Box Placement
For VC Touch 17
1) Securely install the box against the bracket in the bottom left corner, attaching one side to the bill acceptor mounting plate as depicted in the provided image.
2) At the same time, use 3M double-sided heavy-duty mounting tape to affix the box to the surface of the bill acceptor plate.
For VC Touch 21 Gen 1
Put the box at the space beneath the bill acceptor protection case.
For VC Touch 21 Gen 2
Lift the blue buckles on both sides of the peripheral mounting tray and slide out the tray. Put the box against the back wall and then push back the tray.
You can also use the heavy-duty mounting tape to securely affix the box to the back wall for enhanced stability
Router Installation
Wiring
Connect the antenna to the 5G1 and WiFi-2.4G1 ports accordingly. Connect the Ethernet cable from the box to LAN2, the cable from the hub of the VC Touch to LAN3.
Placement
1) For VC Touch 17
If deploy inside the kiosk, put the router in the space beneath the bill acceptor box.
2) For VC Touch 21 Gen 2
Use heavy-duty mounting tape to attach the router to the back wall. There is a bolt at the backside. You can put the router on the bolt to get additional support.
3) Deploy outside of the kiosk
If deploy the router outside of the kiosk, please use a secure box to case it as shown in the picture below.
Install antenna
Install the antenna outside of the Kiosk. (Note: It is not allowed to put the antenna inside the kiosk.)
Find any suitable supporting material to secure the antenna at the top of the kiosk. If it is not applicable at field, please try to find proper solutions as per actual situation.
Installation involves sharing one box between two VCs
Two adjacent VCs can share one set of box and router.
Connect the ethernet cables from both VC hubs and the box to the LAN ports on the router following the instructions below:
LAN2 – Linux Box
LAN3 – Hub of the VC where the router is placed
LAN4 – Hub of the other VC
Connect the Ethernet cable to LAN1 port and power cable to the DC-12V port.
