PayPal can be enabled as a payment processor for a supported payment type or be added as a payment type for transactions. Either as payment processor or payment type, users should navigate to Settings to sign up with PayPal, which would be applied in locations that would select PayPal as the payment processor or payment type in transactions.

Enable PayPal as Payment Type/Payment Gateway at Settings
PayPal can be enabled as a payment type or as a payment gateway for the other payment types at Settings level. Users can navigate to Settings -> Payment Gateway to enable PayPal in the section “Payment Gateway – Online Transactions” where you can select PayPal as a payment gateway for a payment type or add PayPal as a new payment type.
Enable PayPal as Payment Gateway
If you wish to add PayPal as the payment processor for a payment type, you can select “PayPal” from the “Payment Gateway” drop-down list. Then the button “Login with PayPal Merchant ID” will be shown underneath. You can click on the button and it will skip to the third-party landing page where you should enter your PayPal account to log in. After login, the system will skip back to the Settings page in which there would appear the merchant ID and a “Sign Out” button, which means PayPal has successfully been added as the payment processor for the payment type.
The sign out button allows users to disconnect the PayPal merchant account and it will go back to the page before the login.
Upon the completion of login, the “PayPal” field will be disabled by default. You should tick the “Enable” button to enable “PayPal” manually if it has been selected in “Default Payment Gateway” and otherwise PayPal won’t be working as the payment gateway for the payment type in transactions. And the payment type will automatically use the second configured gateway instead (See “Note” below for more details). In addition, you need to select the corresponding “Currency Code” from the drop-down list, otherwise the changes of the payment type won’t be saved successfully.
If PayPal is selected and enabled as the first payment gateway for a payment type, then PayPal will be used as the payment gateway by default for the locations that have selected “Vendor Default Settings” at the location level. If PayPal has been added as the first gateway but disabled for a payment type in Settings, the payment type will adopt the second gateway configured in Settings automatically and PayPal won’t be working as a gateway in actual transactions. If PayPal is configured as the sole gateway for the payment type but disabled in Settings, the payment type will not take effect in transactions.
Add PayPal as Payment Type
PayPal can also be added as a payment type for online transactions in Settings. It would follow the same procedures when PayPal should be selected as the payment gateway for a payment type: click on “Login PayPal with Merchant ID” to log in to your PayPal account and go back to the Settings to check the merchant ID along with a Sign out button that can be used to disconnect your PayPal account.
If PayPal has already been added as the payment gateway for a payment type, it indicates that PayPal has been fully activated at vendor level. Then there is no need for users to perform “Login with PayPal Merchant ID” again if PayPal should be enabled as the payment type. Similarly, if PayPal has been already successfully added as a payment type, there will be no extra requirements to log in to PayPal with merchant ID again if PayPal should be selected as the payment gateway for a payment type. One-time login of PayPal would be widely usable in payment settings.
Enable PayPal at Location Level
PayPal can be added as the payment gateway or payment type at the location level. You can navigate to Location Management -> Edit/Create a location -> Payment Gateway -> Payment Gateway Settings.
Set PayPal as Default Payment Gateway/Payment Type
If PayPal has been selected as the Default Payment Gateway at Settings level and “Vendor Default Settings” is selected in the “Payment Gateway Preference” at location level, then the configurations at Settings -> Payment Gateway will be applied in the location and will not be editable.
If PayPal has been disabled as payment gateway in Settings, the “Payment Gateway” field will be shown as “------” for the payment type and PayPal won’t be working as the gateway in transactions. If PayPal has been disabled as payment type in Settings, it won’t be shown at the location level.
Set Custom Payment Gateway/Payment Type
Vendors can also tick “Set Custom Gateway for The Location” option at the location level. Once this option is ticked, you can custom all related fields for payment types. If PayPal has been added as a payment gateway for a payment type, you can select “PayPal” from the drop-down list of payment type.
If PayPal has been disabled as the payment gateway in Settings, it won’t be displayed in the drop-down list at the location level, even though you have successfully logged in to PayPal with merchant ID at Settings.
If PayPal has been added as a payment type in Settings, you can enable/disable PayPal at the location level based on your needs.

Check PayPal Transactions in Log and Report
For retrieval of transaction records, vendors can check PayPal transactions in both mobile refill log (vendor portal) and transaction report (KioCentral Pro platform).
Check PayPal Transactions in Mobile Refill Log
When the customer completes a mobile refill by using PayPal, the transaction will be logged in Mobile Refill History. Vendors can go to vendor portal -> Detailed Reports -> Mobile Refill Log to check the transaction records, in which the Date/Time of the transaction, Residential Email, Account # (number), Card Type (PayPal), Card Number (email address of the PayPal account) and Client Transaction ID (PayPal transaction ID), etc., will be displayed. Users can apply the filters to search for the mobile refills’ transactions through PayPal.
If the payment gateway for a refill transaction is set to PayPal, the user's email account will be displayed in the "Card Number" column. However, if the payment is made using a Digital Wallet through PayPal, the "Card Number" column will remain empty.
Check PayPal Transactions in Transaction Report
In addition, vendors can access all transactions through PayPal from Transaction Report on the KioCentral Pro platform as well. The transaction records will share the same with that in KioCentral.
Check PayPal Transactions in Value Code Purchase Log
If users purchase value code with PayPal, you can view related information in the Value Code Purchase Log.
When the payment gateway for purchasing value code is set to PayPal, the user's email account will be displayed in the "Card Number" column. However, if the payment is made using a Digital Wallet through PayPal, the "Card Number" column will remain empty.
PayPal Refunds
Our system does not support processing refund requests to Credit Cards for PayPal payments. If users attempt to make such requests, they will see a prompt stating, "Refunds are not permitted on PayPal transactions. Please use the PayPal platform to request these refunds."
However, refunds to Mobile Accounts are supported.
