This document will provide quick setup guide for Unis VendExpress Machine, covering reader setup, VMS setup, Android tablet setup and inventory update.
Unis Vending Machine System
The VendExpress by Unis integrates Ultra VQ-M reader and is powered by VMS (Vending Management System).

Reader Setup
Please use the following patch and program on reader setup:

If you’re not familiar with how to use KLM to set up the reader, please check the reader SN, ensure reader is online and reach out to tech support for further guidance.
VMS Setup
Log in
Input the URL provided by PayRange, enter your account & password and click “Login” on the landing page as shown below to log in to the VMS.

Create Organization
Select “System Organization” from the drop-down list of “Administration” in main navigator bar, click “+ New Organization” button to create an organization. Fill in the required information. If there is an organization available exists, this step can be skipped.
Note: You can click the “See Hierarchy” button to view the hierarchy level and subordinate organization quantity.

Create Location
Click “Operation” from main navigator bar, then click “Location” to enter the page, click “+New Location” button to create a new location.

Follow guide to select organization from drop-down list, fill in station name, pick an address from map, the remaining location-related fields will be populated automatically and fill in remark when needed.

Create Product(s)
Click “Operation” from main navigator bar, then click “Product Library” to enter the page, click “+New Product” button to create new products.
Note: If there are available product exists, this step can be skipped.

Follow guide to define Product Name, Product Group, Pre-tax Price, Post-tax Price, Barcode, Property, Status and Image.
Note: Set property as “Public” means this product can reviewed and edited by other system users.

Create Machine Model
In Administration->Setting->Machine Model, click the “Add” button to add VendExpress as a machine model.
Note: If VendExpress already exists in the list, this step can be skipped.

Fill in the related information for VendExpress. Enter the Maximum Column Qty per Layer (10) and Display Rules (Unis Machine).

Create Machine Type
In Administration->Settings->Machine Type, click the “Add” button to create new machine type based on your product. Enter the machine type name and click “Submit” to save the setting.


Create Planogram
Planogram is a terminology widely used in vending machines, and which refers to the slot’s layout. Click “Operation” from main navigator bar, then click “Planogram” to enter the page, click “+New Planogram” button to create a new planogram.

Follow guide to define planogram’s name, property, model (Select VendExpress), note and upload rendering (image) for quick review.
Note: When property is set as “Public”, your template can be reviewed and copied by other system user(s).

Click the “Submit” button to save the settings.
Add Product for Each Slot
After planogram is created, find the planogram from list, click the “Products” button of the specific planogram to enter next page.

For the newly created planogram, you need to generate slot layout the same as machine actual situation. Click “Slot Layout” button and pick slot quantity for each tray in sequence, then click “Save” to complete.


After creating the planogram, you can click single slot to configure each slot or click “Batch Config” to configure slots in batches. You can follow the steps for Batch Config.

Choose the slot/slots to be configured
Select the corresponding product for the chosen slots
Set the capacity/New Pre-tax Price/New Post-tax Price.
Note: You can skip the third step and leave it as it is, the settings will adhere to the original settings of the product.
After configuring all slots, click the “Save” button to complete the setting.

Create Machine (Link Reader to Machine)
In the main navigator bar, “Operation -> Machine -> New Machine” tab, open to create a machine in the system.
Step 1: Follow guide to fill in the information.
Machine Name: Enter the vending machine name.
Reader SN: Enter the complete Reader Serial Number.
Note: Reader SN must be complete, and correct, same as actual, otherwise system won’t be able to receive data from reader.
Model: Select “VendExpress” for machine model (It’s pre-defined in Create Machine Model).
Type: Select the corresponding machine type (It’s pre-defined in Create Machine Type).
Third Party Data Upload/URL: Not available here, please leave the fields empty.
Pricing Mode: It determines the type of price charged by the reader. You can select pre-tax price or post-tax price.
Price Display Mode: It defines the product price displayed on machine. You can select pre-tax price, post-tax price or both.

Step 2: Select specific organization, machine group (Click “Add” to create machine groups. It will be used for reports filter), location from drop-down list. Click “Next” button to proceed.

Step 3: Pick the planogram you create in Create Planogram from drop-down list for this new created machine. You can also add or modify products here. Click “Next” to proceed.

Step 4: After all required parameters are filled/selected, complete layout can be reviewed, click “Submit” button to complete. And click “Update” to save the settings.
After creation, this machine can be reviewed from “Operation -> Machine -> All Machines” page.

Android Tablet Setup
Please use following program on android tablet setup.

Inventory Update
Inventory can be updated via either the machine tablet or the VMS.

Inventory Update via VMS
Go to Reports→ Inventory Report→ Real-time Inventory, click “Update Inventory” button to enter the slot management page.

You can refer to the instructions below to set inventory:
① Click the single slot: to set the capacity/inventory/price for single slot.
② Click “Refill This Tray”: to refill the tray to full inventory.
③ Click “Batch Set”: to update the information for slots in batches.
④ Click “One-click replenishment”: to replenishment all slots to full inventory.
Note: After setting all slots, click “Update” to apply the changes.
