Device Connection Handling

To guarantee printer, scale and reader are available to perform their functions, auto-connection feature and manual connection settings are added to KioSoft POS Cash Register. Please follow the instructions below to handle the device connection.

Scale Reconnection

Scale Disabled

1. If you need to use the scale but it shows an Error and no Setup Scale button, it means that the Scale is disabled.

2. Return to Main Interface and click the employee image on the top right of the screen, then click the Settings button.

3. Enable Scale and then click the Save button.

4. Scale also can be enabled/disabled by selecting the option circled in yellow.

Scale Disconnected

When you enter the following page, the scale will automatically reconnect with the Cash Register if it is disconnected. But if the following screen still displays an Error, it suggests that the scale failed to reconnect with the Cash Register.

1. Click the Setup Scale button.

2. Click the Initialize button to manually reconnect.

3. If the scale is reconnected by the serial port successfully, the info will be displayed like this.

4. If the scale is reconnected by Bluetooth successfully, the info will be displayed like this.

5. If the scale still failed to reconenct to Cash Register, there will be an info for you to troubleshoot.

Bluetooth Connection

Please follow the steps below to open the Bluetooth of Cash Register.

1. Slip down from the top right corner of the Login screen.

2. Open Bluetooth of Cash Register.

Please follow the steps below to open Bluetooth of scale.

1. Press ZERO button until the scale is turned on.

2. Enter settings mode by pressing TARE button when the number on the scale hasn’t reached stable 0.000.

3. Select connecting mode by pressing TARE button until the scale displays “bt”.

4. Press ZERO button to confirm.

5. Select protocol by pressing TARE button until the scale displays “F2 Con”.

6. Press ZERO button to confirm.

7. Press TARE button until the scale displays “BrcI-“.

8. Press ZERO button to confirm. The Bluetooth of scale is opened successfully now.

Please follow the steps below to reconnect the scale to the Cash Register by Bluetooth. The reconnection procedure could be completed in the Main Interface or Login screen.

In Login Screen

For the first connection between scale and Cash Register by Bluetooth, it must be performed in the Login screen.

1. Return to the Login screen and click the Scale by BT button.

2. Keep only one scale Bluetooth open and wait for Cash Register searching.

3. Click the Connect button to finish the connection.

4. If you want to connect to another scale, click the Ignore button.

5. Click OK to disconnect the scale from Cash Register then go back to step 1.

6. If the scale is successfully connected, it will display as the picture below.

In Main Interface

If the scale was connected to the Cash Register before but it disconnected due to some reason, you can try to reconnect the scale in the Main Interface.

1. Login to the Main Interface and click the employee image on the top right of the screen, then click the Settings button.

2. Click the Reconnect button.

3. An info will pop up to remind you of the successful reconnection.

4. If the scale is successfully connected, it will display as the picture below.

Scale Connected but No Weight Reading

If the scale has been successfully connected To Cash Register, but there is no weight reading, it implies that the scale is in wrong mode or the protocol is incorrect.

Please follow section 9.1.3 to check the correctness of scale mode and protocol.

“bt” represents Bluetooth connection mode.

“port” represents Serial Port connection mode.

Both modes above are supposed to use the new protocol “F2 Con”.

Connection Mode Shift

If you want to shift from the Bluetooth connection to the Serial Port connection, be sure to disconnect the port connection cable and reset the scale to “port” mode according to the steps in section 9.1.3.

If you want to shift from the Serial Port connection to Bluetooth connection, be sure to open the Bluetooth of Cash Register and the Bluetooth of the targeted scale, and reset the scale to “bt” mode according to the steps in section 9.1.3.

Printer Reconnection

Printer Disabled

If you need to use the printer but it doesn’t work and there is not any reminder, it means that the printer is disabled.

1. Return to Main Interface and click the employee image on the top right of the screen, then click the Settings button.

2. Enable the printer and then click the Save button.

3. Printer also can be enabled/disabled by selecting the option circled in yellow.

Printer Disconnected

If the printer is enabled but you received the error below when you need to use the printer, it indicates that you need to check if the printer is powered on and if there is any error on the printing paper, then try to print again.

Reader Reconnection

Reader Disabled

1. If Cash Register reminds you that the reader is disabled, click the OK button.

2. Return to Main Interface and click the employee image on the top right of the screen, then click the Settings button.

3. Enable Reader and then click the Save button.

4. Reader also can be enabled/disabled by selecting the option circled in yellow.

Reader Disconnected

1. If the reader is disconnected, this info will be displayed, and click the OK button.

2. Click the button at the bottom right corner of the screen to reconnect the reader.

3. If the reader is reconnected successfully, this info will be displayed, and then click OK.

4. If the reader failed to be reconnected, this info will be displayed.

Check if the reader is powered on, check the cable connection, then click the OK button and try step 2 again.
