How to Program a Bill Acceptor to Accept New Denominations

Prev Next

The document is intended to introduce how to distinguish between the Bill Acceptors that support $50/ $100 or not, and how to configure the bill acceptance for a Bill Acceptor. Please ensure the bill acceptance has been properly configured for the Bill Acceptor before using it.

Distinguish Between Different Types of Bill Acceptor

To distinguish which Bill Acceptors accept $50/$100 bills, check the model number chart below. If the fifth digit after the letter "V" is 4, the Bill Acceptor does not accept $50/$100 bills and if it is 6, then it does.

Configure Bill Acceptance

Ensure the proper bill acceptance setup when installing the Bill Acceptor onto the Kiosk. Sometimes, the Model Number on your Bill Acceptor indicates that it supports $50/ $100, but it doesn’t in actual operation. This is because the $50/ $100 aren’t enabled. You need to configure the bill acceptance manually.

Before configuring the Bill Acceptance, please configure the Dip Switch Settings first. Keep Switches 1, 2, and 5 ON, and Switches 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 OFF, as shown in the image below.

Then follow the steps below to configure the bill acceptance for the Bill Acceptor.

  1. Power up the Bill Acceptor first. And hold the Service Mode button until the Diagnostic LED turns green and flashes.

  1. Remove the lower housing.

Depress the blue button at the bottom firmly to release, and then push the depressed button to back to remove the lower housing.

  1. Set options as desired. You can refer to the image below, “Configuration Settings”.

    a. Press the Service Mode button once to change to the next combination of options within the current Page. Please note that all options on the Page should be configured properly before moving to the next Page.

    Note:

The lights change in a binary pattern. When you press the button to make the light pattern change in the current page, you can't change just one item, and you are always changing all four items, in the binary pattern.  That is: OFF OFF OFF OFF to OFF OFF OFF ON to OFF OFF ON OFF to OFF OFF ON ON to OFF ON OFF OFF and so on until ON ON ON ON, at which point another change wraps back to OFF OFF OFF OFF.

If you go past the binary representation you want, you have to start over from "0" (all lights off).

    b. Hold the Service Mode button for several seconds to move to the next Page of options.

You can tell which page you are currently on by the number of times the rightmost Bill Inlet LED flashes.

    Note:

    1. Page 1 and Page 3 are the critical settings. Please ensure Page 1= ON ON ON ON, and Page 3 = ON ON ON ON. And for Page 2 and Page 4, we can keep it default.

    2. If it’s a Bill Acceptor that doesn’t support $50/ $100, the $50/ $100 bill acceptance option won’t show up as an enabled option in Page 3.

  1. When all the settings are ok, reinstall the lower housing. When the Bill Inlet LEDs flash 5 times, it confirms options are saved. You should test bill acceptance to ensure proper setup.
