We would like to inform you that we have scheduled server maintenance for the PayRange CENTRAL server product on August 5th from 2:30 AM EST to 7:30 AM EST.

Shopping on Tablet

Prev Next

The Central Controller is designed to manage the vending machine from product display, ads promotion, payment process, to item dispensing. This document introduces the shopping flow in the Central Controller, including its home page functionality, general shopping flow, and the ADA mode. This could help users know more about the shopping flow on the Tablet.

Home Page

This section will show you the main features and details of the home page, and how to use them.

  1. After the welcome page, when the app is turned on, a Product Selection page appears to allow users to select the desired product. All products are displayed in a grid, with 3 product blocks per row.

The product blocks automatically scroll vertically. Each product displayed includes Product Image, Product Name, Product Price, Slot Number, and a “Buy Now” button. By clicking any product, it will show its custom description, if any. And, if any product is sold out, it will show “Out of Stock”.

  1. When the machine is in standby, a full-screen ad will be displayed if the correct ad video(s) or image(s) are uploaded in Backend, and a Client logo will appear at the bottom right corner if it is defined in the Backend (If not, it shows the PayRange logo). Users can tap anywhere to start.

    Notes:

    a. If there is a single video/image, the full-screen ad(s) will show up when no action is performed on the Product Selection page for more than 30 seconds by default.

    b. If there are multiple ad videos or images, they will be displayed in a loop according to the alphabetical order of file names.

    c. At most 3 ads (video and image) will be displayed. If there are 4 or more ads uploaded in the Backend, the first three ads will be displayed in a loop in alphabetical order of file names.

  1. An ad will be displayed in the upper area of the Product Selection page if the correct ad video(s) or image(s) are uploaded.

    Notes:

    a. If there is only a single video/image, the ad will be displayed all the time. (Play in a loop for video)

    b. If there are multiple ad videos or images, loop the videos or images in alphabetical order of file names, and only the first 3 files will be played at most.

  1. The basic info, including the network status, device ID, and date, is displayed in the upper right corner of the Product Selection page.

The PayRange or Client logo is in the upper left. The client logo is disabled by default, and, if it is configured in Backend, the upper left corner will show the Client logo.

  1. By clicking the “Search Slot #” button at the bottom left corner, users can enter the slot number to search for the desired slot.

  1. The “?” icon at the bottom of the Product Selection page is available for users to click for further info. The specific help image can be configured in Backend.

  1. The disability symbol at the bottom right corner is available for disabilities to click for easy operation.

Clicking the ADA button at the bottom right corner will enter the ADA mode, where a smaller shopping page will show up at the bottom 1/3 of the screen to make operation easier.

Shopping

Please follow the steps below to purchase the desired product.

  1. Select the desired product and click “Buy New” on the Product Selection page.

  1. Select the payment method: Cash Payment or Credit/debit Card payment.

When the amount of coins in the coin changer is less than the order amount, a warning will prompt to insert coins or change to a new payment method, and the Bill Acceptor won’t accept bills (coins are acceptable) when tapping “Pay with Cash”. Please click “Yes” to proceed.

  1. Insert cash or coin, or tap/ insert card on reader.

When inserting cash or coin, the screen will display the Order Total, Total Received, and Remaining/ Change Due.

When tapping/ inserting card, please note that sometimes users need to tap the reader screen before using CR/DB Card, e.g. the reader doesn’t support “Always Idle” command in its MDB flow. Please follow the instructions on the screen.

If no action happens in the period, go back to the Production Selection page.

And if the inserted money is greater than the required amount, the change will be provided automatically. If the inserted money is lower than required and users cancel the order, the money will be refunded.

  1. After paying for the order and the countdown is over, the prompt “Payment Successful” or “Payment Failed” will appear.

  1. When payment is successful, dispense the selected product and show the E-receipt on the screen.

When dispensing succeeds and a change is required, the “Change Available” or “Change Not Available” section will appear below the E-receipt.

When the change is available, it will be provided automatically, and the details, including “Total Inserted Cash”, “Total Change”, and “Change Given”, will be displayed in the “Change Available” section.

When the change is not available, the details, including “Total Change”, “Change Dispensed”, and “Change Owed”, will be displayed in the “Change Not Available” section. Please contact customer service with the transaction ID to claim your remaining change.

Note-Special Scenarios:

  1. In rare cases, the coin changer may get stuck. The screen indicates change has been given, but in reality, the coins are stuck, and users don’t get the change. Please contact customer service to get the change.

  2. If during the process of making change, the coins in the coin changer are used up but not fully provided, please contact customer service to get the remaining amount.

When dispensing fails, the cash refund will be returned through the coin changer if it’s available (If not, please contact customer service); and the credit/ debit card payment will be directly refunded to the card.

ADA Mode

The ADA mode is designed to make operation easier for people with disabilities. The shopping flow and some Possible purchase scenarios are the same as normal mode. It just has a smaller shopping page. Below is the basic screen when shopping in ADA mode.

  1. Click the ADA button to enter the ADA mode, where a smaller shopping page will show up at the bottom 1/3 of the screen to make operation easier.

  1. Select the payment method: cash payment or Credit/debit Card payment.

When the amount of coins in the coin changer is less than the order amount, a warning will prompt to insert coins or change to a new payment method when tapping “Pay with Cash”. Please click “Yes” to proceed.

  1. Insert cash or coin, or tap/ insert card on the reader.

  1. After the countdown is over, prompt “Payment Successful” or “Payment Failed”.

  1. When paying for the order successfully, dispense the purchased product and display the E-Receipt.

If change is needed, the coin changer will automatically provide it; if change is unavailable, please contact customer service.

If dispensing fails, the paid money will be refunded via coin changer (if paid with cash) or to the card in 3-5 business days (if paid with a card); if not, please contact customer service.
